Ghost Nets: The Silent Killers Of The Ocean - Thalassains
GHOST NETS HAUNT OUR RED SEA!

Out of all the things that kill our marine animals, ghost nets are one of the deadliest. Here are some facts you need to know about ghost nets.

- Ghost nets are fishing nets that have been abandoned or discarded at sea. They’re responsible for trapping and killing millions of marine animals including sharks, fish, turtles, dolphins, and whales. They also get entangled in our coral reefs causing extreme damage to them.

- Ghost nets are quite heavy and also invisible in dim light, which makes them very deadly to out marine life. Up to 700,000 marine animals are killed each year by ghost nets including coral reefs.

- Most ghost nets are made of synthetic fiber which releases MICROPLASTIC in our ocean.

- Many fishermen adopt dangerous fishing techniques that cause ghost nets in the ocean such as; Gillnets, Trawling, and Purse Seine

- LUCKILY IN EGYPT, we have many people just like you and me that want to help fight for our marine life.
